ALOR GAJAH: The main suspect in the murder of the late teacher, Istiqomah Ahmad Rozi, 33, will be charged at the Alor Gajah Magistrate's Court this morning.

Alor Gajah District Police Chief, Superintendent Ashari Abu Samah, said that the charge order was issued by the State Prosecutor last Thursday after reviewing the investigation papers referred by the case investigator.

"The State Prosecutor has completed the review of the investigation papers, and further instructions are to charge the 37-year-old suspect at the Alor Gajah Magistrate's Court this Monday," he said.

He added that the DNA test results on samples of the head and fingers were identified as of Istiqomah.

"At present, there are still some DNA tests on recent findings that have not yet been concluded," he said.

The body of teacher Istiqomah will be handed over to her family today.

Ashari said that Istiqomah's body can be claimed by her family at the Forensic Department of Melaka Hospital at 11am today for burial.

He did not elaborate on whether other parts of the victim's body have been fully recovered.

Previously, it was reported that Istiqomah's family had urged for the process of claiming the body to be expedited.

The late Istiqomah's husband, Mohd Yusof Mokhtar, 35, was reported to have said the body would be taken back to Pasir Mas, Kelantan for burial.

On Jan 6, a headless female body, with both hands and feet missing, was found in a trash bin by the Alor Gajah-Tampin road near Kampung Rimau, Pulau Sebang, Melaka.

After about eight months, on Aug 12, Ashari confirmed that the body was identified as Istiqomah Ahmad Rozi, 33, a teacher reported missing on Dec 27, 2023.

Following this, the Special Investigation Division (D9) of the Melaka Criminal Investigation Department(CID), in cooperation with the Johor and Alor Gajah District Police Headquarters (IPD) CID, arrested a husband and wife, aged 37 and 36, in Chemor, Perak on August 6.
