KUALA LUMPUR: The police investigation into an African robbery gang also covers the flow of approximately RM8 million stolen by the group, including where the money was channelled to and how it was used.
"So far, we cannot yet determine if the money was repatriated to their home country, we are investigating," Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said.
He told reporters on the sidelines of a Behavourial Science Unit course at the Royal Malaysian Police College that the gang's members entered the country in 2017.
Yesterday, police killed an African national in a shootout in Bandar Sunway.
Earlier today, it was reported that the suspect killed in the shooting is believed to be a member of a robbery gang active since 2018.
The armed gang, responsible for RM8 million in losses, is believed to consist of 10 African men known for targeting victims through fraudulent transactions.
Police are tracking the remaining members of the gang.
