CID director: No compromise for errant cops

KOTA KINABALU: Federal police have affirmed that there will be no compromising on any misconduct by its officers and personnel.

Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the department has taken stricter disciplinary action against errant personnel compared to other agencies.

"We are aware that issues of misconduct do exist, and we cannot avoid such shortcomings.

"We continuously strive to improve police services, but I believe that, in terms of the force, we have provided all the necessary training and resources for the job.

"However, it ultimately depends on the individual's attitude.

"Just like in the context of today's convention, most are saying that to strengthen the integrity of an agency, it comes down to the individual themselves," he said.

Suhaily was speaking to the media after being one of the invited panelists at the closing ceremony of the Integrity, Governance, and Anti-Corruption Convention (KITA) 2024, held at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) today.

Also present was Sabah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission director Datuk S. Karunanithy.
