KUALA LUMPUR: A search and rescue operation is still ongoing for a 48-year-old woman who fell into a sinkhole along Jalan Masjid India yesterday.
Family members of the victim are present at the scene and onlookers have gathered nearby to witness the rescue efforts.
While some businesses near the sinkhole have closed, most shops on the other side of Jalan Masjid India remain open.
The media, who have been gathering as early as 8am, have yet to receive any updates from officials today.
The sinkhole, which appeared yesterday, caused an Indian national in her 40s to fall into the pit.

Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) has opened up manholes along the 7km sewage line between Masjid India and Pantai Dalam in efforts to locate the missing woman.
IWK chief executive officer Narendran Maniam had said it would extend its full cooperation to the authorities to find the woman who fell into a sinkhole at Jalan Masjid India yesterday.
IWK said it will open up each manhole along the sewage alignment from the scene right up to IWK plant in Pantai Dalam.
He had said IWK had started to open the man holes up since yesterday afternoon but didn't find anything.
