E-hailing driver killed, passenger unhurt in Genting crash [WATCH]

BENTONG: A 68-year-old e-hailing driver was killed and his passenger escaped unhurt after the vehicle they were travelling in crashed into the concrete road barrier at Km15.8 Jalan Genting Highlands yesterday.

Hon Hoock Chee was killed on the spot from head injuries while his 70-year-old female passenger escaped the crash in the 5.30pm accident.

District police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said Hon was driving his Perodua Myvi downhill from the highlands resort towards Klang.

"Upon reaching the spot, the driver is believed to have failed to control the wheel, resulting in the vehicle veering into the opposite lane and crashing into the concrete barrier.

"The driver sustained serious injuries and died at the scene. His female passenger, who is a local, escaped unhurt," he said.

Zaiham said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and urged witnesses to come forward to assist investigations.
