KUALA LUMPUR: The Selangor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry raided two premises in Rawang that stored counterfeit cosmetics yesterday.
In the first raid about 3pm, the ministry officials, along with trademark owners, raided a storage warehouse in Bukit Rawang Jaya.
Upon inspection, 13 units of suspected counterfeit cosmetics, worth about RM403, were found.
In a second raid on a house in Taman Scientex Rawang, the authorities discovered about 700 units of counterfeit cosmetics.
"A man, believed to be the owner of the premises, was detained and counterfeit cosmetics worth RM25,543 were seized.
"Investigations showed that the house was used to collect, store and deliver cosmetics ordered by customers on e-commerce platforms," a ministry spokesperson said.
All the seized items were sent to the ministry's exhibit storage centre in Bukit Raja, Selangor.
The spokesperson said the ministry was intensifying efforts to combat the sale of unregistered and toxic cosmetics.
Last year, the Selangor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry conducted six raids and seized items from various brands worth nearly RM500,000.
