BUKIT MERTAJAM: Police are probing an incident where the receipt of a fast food restaurant has words insulting Islam written on it.
Seberang Prai Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Helmi Aris said police came across a screenshot of the receipt uploaded by the Malaysia Most Viral X account this morning.
He said the receipt from the sales at a fast food restaurant had words insulting Islam on it.
"Last night, the district police headquarters received a report filed by a male worker at a fast food restaurant in Taman Inderawasih, Prai, near here.
"He claimed that about 8.27pm, while working at the premises, he received a customer's online order through a website.
"Upon checking the receipt, there was a remark insulting Islam, sent by an irresponsible individual," he said tonight.
Helmi said, following the incident, police conducted initial probe against the individual who made the order.
"The individual denied making the order and suspected that other individual could have misused the personal details and address, and that the website did not have users' security feature to make orders.
"Police are still probing the matter," he added.
The case is being investigated under Section 298 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.
In May, police here confirmed receiving a report on an act of provocation which insulted Islam.
This was following the receipt, which went viral, where remarks insulting Islam were printed on it.
