BUKIT MERTAJAM: The Road Transport Department (RTD) issued summonses to 39 express and tour bus drivers during a special operation targeting tourism and public service vehicles (PSV) at the Juru Toll Plaza here last night.
In a statement, RTD said that the summonses were mainly for offences such as failing to provide a second driver for long-distance journeys exceeding 300km or for driving more than four consecutive hours.
"During the operation, we also identified other violations, including the absence of a Temporary Permit (LPS), driving without a valid licence, and operating without a PSV licence.
"Additional offences included failure to update driver log books, poor vehicle maintenance, and other technical violations.
"In total, 219 summons notices were issued during the operation," the statement added.
The operation, which ran from 6am to 11pm, involved 26 state RTD enforcement officers.
