MACC evaluates 45 public servants for corruption reporting incentives

PUTRAJAYA: Forty-five public servants have been evaluated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for rewards based on their reports of corrupt practices.

MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the rewards were awarded based on the value of bribes.

"The rewards are determined by the value of the bribe involved or the reported corruption, along with a certificate of appreciation. For bribes valued at less than RM500, the minimum reward is set at RM500, as outlined in the guidelines," he said.

This year's recognition includes a total reward amount of RM107,400, marking a 74 per cent increase from RM28,450 awarded in 2023.

In a post on MACC's Facebook page, Azam said the rewards were given based on a circular issued by the Chief Secretary to the Government - "Guidelines for Public Servants Reporting the Giving or Receiving of Bribes," which took effect in 2011.

He added that on Sept 10, the Chief Secretary had announced that Key Performance Indicators for public servants should include the responsibility to report corruption to the MACC

The My Performance Assessment System and the Demerit Performance Evaluation System (DEEP) will integrate this aspect into their evaluations.

Azam made these comments while chairing the 13th Recognition Assessment Panel Meeting for Public Servants Reporting the Giving or Receiving of Bribes at MACC headquarters.
