KUALA LUMPUR: A 32-year-old Vietnamese woman who entered the country as a labourer but worked as a guest relations officer (GRO), was among 93 people arrested by the Immigration Department last night.
Those arrested comprise 78 women and 15 men from Thailand, Vietnam, China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Laos and Mongolia.
They were arrested in Immigration Department raids on two entertainment outlets in the city. men.
Deputy Immigration director-general (Operations), Jafri Embok Taha said the raids, involved 70 immigration officers from four states.
"All those arrested are aged 18 to 39," he said after the raids in Manjalara and Bukit Bintang.
They are suspected of offences under Section 6(3) of the Immigration Act for illegal entry and Rule 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations for breaching the conditions of their permits.
Jafri said the two entertainment outlets offered GRO services, charging clients between RM100 to RM1,000.
The "prices" for each GRO's time were printed on the sashes they wore.
"We do not rule out the possibility that the GROs offered sex services though this did not happen at the premises.
"Preliminary investigations showed that most of the foreigners came here on tourist visas, though some had expired visas."
Jafri said the department received many complaints about immoral activities in the Klang Valley.
He said they will continue to carry out operations and act against any foreigner who breaks the law.
