Ulu Tiram attack: Case of suspect's family members transferred to KL High Court [WATCH]

JOHOR BARU: The case involving five family members of the man involved in the Ulu Tiram police station attack, which resulted in the deaths of two police officers on May 17, has been transferred to the Kuala Lumpur High Court.

Sessions Court Judge Rasidah Roslee granted the transfer following a request from Deputy Public Prosecutor Yaziq Mustaqim Roslan when the case came up for mention today.

The five family members are the man's 62-year-old father Radin Imran Radin Mohd Yassin, his mother, Rosna Jantan, 59, as well as three siblings namely Radin Romyullah Radin Imran, 34; Farhah Sobrina Radin Imran, 23; and Mariah Radin Imran, 19.

Rasidah then ordered Radin Imran and his son, Radin Romyullah to be detained at the Sungai Buloh prison.

Meanwhile, Radin Imran's wife, Rosna, as well as the couple's daughter, Farhah Sobrin were ordered to be held in Kajang Prison.

Additionally, the court ordered their other daughter, Mariah, placed in Permai Hospital here for a mental health evaluation.

Lawyer Faizal Rahman represented all the accused.

It was reported that Radin Imran and his four family members faced nine charges including encouraging terrorist acts and instilling the Islamic State (IS) ideology when they were produced at the Session Court here on June 19.

Radin Imran alone is facing four charges. For his first count, Radin Imran was charged under Section 130G(a) of the same code for encouraging terrorist acts by instilling the ideology of the IS terrorist group.

For his second charge, Radin Imran supported a terrorist act by keeping firearms in the form of four homemade air guns to carry out IS terrorist activity, which is a charge under Section 130J(1)(b) of the same code.

He and his eldest son, Radin Romyullah, were also charged with supporting the IS by pledging their loyalty to a leader of the terrorist group, Abu Bakar Al-Baghdadi.

Radin Imran is also charged for being in possession of a book titled 'Hakikat Islam & Hakikat Syrik' by Abu Sulaiman Aman Abdurrahman which is related to the IS terrorist group, and is charged under Section 130JB(1)(a) of the same code.

Radin Romyullah, who is the second suspect was charged for being in possession of a hard disk containing material related to the IS terrorist group and terrorist actions, and was charged under Section 130JB(1)(a) of the same code.

Rosna, Farhah Sobrina and Mariah were charged for intentionally not giving any information related to the offence committed under Section 130J(1)(a) and Section 130G(a) of the same code.

All the accused face jail terms of between seven to 40 years or a fine or both, and all properties used to commit the offences need to be seized, upon conviction.

All of them were charged with committing the offences at a house in Jalan Rabani, Kampung Sungai Tiram between April 2017 and May 17, 2024.
