Cops nab ex-con who's been robbing female e-hailing drivers

KOTA TINGGI: Police yesterday arrested a 30-year-old former convict for allegedly robbing a female e-hailing driver in Pantai Tanjung Buluh, Kuala Sedeli, here, on Sept 26.

The 52-year-old victim lost RM860 to the man.

District police chief Superintendent Yusof Othman said, following a tip-off, the man was arrested at a house in Taman Daiman Jaya, here, at 4.30pm.

Police seized a mobile phone and the clothing he is believed to have worn during the robbery.

Also found was 0.28g of syabu in a small packet in his wallet. He also tested positive for methamphetamine.

Yusof said the suspect has been remanded for six days to assist investigations under Section 392 of the Penal Code.

He will also face drug-related charges.

Yusof said the suspect is believed to have targeted female e-hailing drivers as his victims.

He said the man was not armed but would verbally threaten his victim.
