GOF seizes nearly RM100k in cosmetics smuggled from Thailand

PASIR MAS: The General Operations Force has seized RM94,000 worth of smuggled cosmetics from a store near the Kelantan-Thai border.

GOF Southeast Brigade commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid said the smuggled goods were discovered during a patrol along the border area.

He said GOF personnel saw the store along an illegal jetty and decided to inspect it.

"They found boxes containing various types of cosmetics believed to have been smuggled in from Thailand," he said in a statement.

Nik Ros said there has been an increase in attempts to smuggle cosmetics from Thailand owing to their cheap prices.

Separately, Nik Ros said a 31-year-old woman was arrested in Rantau Panjang last night for attempting to smuggle over 1,000kg of sugar to Thailand.

He said the sugar was worth RM3,400.
