GOF seizes Thai cosmetic products valued over RM100,000 at Kelantan border

KOTA BARU: The General Operations Force (GOF) seized about 500 boxes of cosmetic products, valued at more than RM100,000, in two separate operations yesterday.

However, no arrests were made during either operation, which were carried out in Rantau Panjang and Tumpat.

GOF Southeast Brigade commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abd Hamid said the first operation was conducted at the Pak Teh Kana illegal jetty in Rantau Panjang.

"The GOF personnel were conducting Op Taring Wawasan when they spotted several men acting suspiciously at about 11.30pm.

"Seeing the officers, the men fled into nearby bushes, leaving 452 boxes at the illegal jetty.

"GOF personnel found various brands of cosmetic products in these boxes," he said.

He added that the products, valued at about RM90,000, had been smuggled from Thailand.

In the second operation, he said the GOF seized more than 50 boxes containing Thai cosmetic products, valued at about RM26,000.

"The cosmetic products were seized at the Pejal illegal jetty in Pengkalan Kubor, Tumpat, but no one was arrested during the 10am operation.

"All the products were for local distribution," he added.
