KUALA LUMPUR: Police today confirmed that no criminal element was detected in the fire at an apartment in Petaling Jaya that resulted in the death of a woman.
Petaling Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrulnizam Jaafar said police and the Fire and Rescue Department were investigating the cause of the fire.
"The unit was occupied by five people who rented four rooms.
"At the time of the incident, three people were at home, while two had gone to work."
Earlier today, the New Straits Times reported that a woman, 31, had died after an electrical switch box on the 14th floor of an apartment building in Petaling Jaya caught fire.
The Fire and Rescue Department said it had received a distress call at 8.39am.
The department rescued a 29-year-old male and a 24-year-old female.
