JERANTUT: Police have identified  four men believed to have abused Ummu Atiyyah, the daughter of Al-Arqam founder Ashaari Muhammad.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the  suspects were identified based on the police report lodged by the victim.

"We have so far identified the suspects, who are all above 20 years old, based on the report lodged by the victim and mentioned in a YouTube video by the complainant or victim (Ummu Atiyyah) in this case. Investigations are ongoing.

"Some people had claimed that police were acting hastily in this matter,  but we are not in a rush. We do not act abruptly when conducting an arrest upon receiving reports like this...that might be the perception of the people outside and they are wrong.

"We carry out investigations upon receiving  reports. Even yesterday we went to Ipoh after receiving a report. At the moment, we roughly know (the suspects) and will call them to have their statements recorded. If they can be arrested without a warrant, then we will do so to solve our investigations," he told reporters at Kuala Tahan National Park here today (Oct 21).

Razarudin was speaking at a joint press conference with Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) director-general Datuk Abdul Kadir Abu Hashim and  Customs Department deputy director-general (Enforcement and Compliance) Ribuan Abdullah after  Op Bersepadu Khazanah here.

On Oct 19, Ummu Atiyyah, 41, claimed that she was forced to marry a GISB leader and was subjected to mental and physical abuse.

Razarudin said police were trcaking down four men who allegedly confined the victim.

Yesterday (Oct 20), Ummu Atiyyah, led police to a place in Kampung Batu Hampar Dalam, Perak, where she was allegedly confined for about a month.
