JERANTUT: Police believe there could be more sexual abuse victims of Global Ikhwan Sdn Bhd Holdings' (GISBH) senior figures who have not reported their ordeal.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain urged those victims to lodge reports.
"Maybe, there are others who chose not to come forward. They can provide the necessary information and lodge a report," he told reporters at Kuala Tahan National Park here today.
Razarudin was asked if police had received information or reports of more sexual abuse and confinement by GISBH members, as alleged by Ummu Atiyyah, 41, the eldest daughter of the late Al-Arqam founder, Ashaari Muhammad.
On Oct 19, Ummu Atiyyah claimed that she was a victim of wrongful confinement, violence and was forced to marry a GISH leader. Another victim, Mohamad Adam, 33, claimed he, his wife, and their 4-year-old child were forced to work for GISB without pay for more than 10 years.
Razarudin was speaking at a joint press conference with Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) director-general Datuk Abdul Kadir Abu Hashim and Customs Department deputy director-general (Enforcement and Compliance) Ribuan Abdullah after Op Bersepadu Khazanah here.
Razarudin also urged GISB followers to join a government-run voluntary rehabilitation programme to allow them resume their lives and assimilate into the society.
"GISB outside should cooperate by joining the voluntary rehabilitation programme offered by the government. It provides an opportunity for those who strayed to obtain systematic guidance.
"In terms of education, the programme will ensure the members' children will receive formal education, as we know that the children have been unable to obtain proper lessons," he said.
On Oct 14, National Security Council deputy director-general Datuk Baharuddin Ahmad said the government was offering a three-month voluntary rehabilitation programme to all GISB followers, regardless of age or gender.
