KUALA LUMPUR: Police are on the hunt for a group of foreigners, believed to be responsible for at least two house break-in cases in Bandar Salak Tinggi.
In both cases, the criminals, armed with parang, had tied up the home's occupants before fleeing with valuables.
Acting Sepang police chief, Superintendent Shan Gopal Krishnan, said the criminals used the same modus operandi in both cases.
He said in the first incident on Oct 6, the robbers had entered a house in Persiaran Vista at 3.30am via a back door.
They proceeded to tie up all family members in the house before ransacking the home and fleeing with cash and valuables.
The second incident, he said, took place last Sunday at a house in Jalan Sheikh Jalaludin at 1.30am.
"The suspects broke into the house and tied up the whole family before escaping with cash, watches and jewellery," he said.
He said in both cases, the robbers, numbering between three to four men, wore masks and dark clothes.
"They would usually target houses next to forested areas," he said.
Police are investigating the case under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery and armed robbery.
Offenders can be jailed up to 20 years and face whipping, upon conviction.
"Efforts are ongoing to track down the suspects," he said.
Shan Gopal urged those with information to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Thaqib Zulkafli, at 013-2185758, or the Sepang police headquarters at 03- 87774222.
