KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained two former general managers of a public organisation in connection with an investigation into the alleged abuse of power involving a fertiliser procurement cartel worth RM60 million.
The Putrajaya magistrate's court registrar, Syahrul Sazly Md Sani, granted three- and four-day remand for the two male suspects, aged 50s and 60s, until Nov 5 and 6, following an application made by MACC this morning.
Sources said both suspects were arrested when giving their statements at the MACC headquarters around 8.30pm yesterday (Nov 2).
Sources said the two were detained to facilitate the investigation into the fertiliser procurement cartel linked to a public organisation suspected of having elements of corruption and abuse of power.
MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations) Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya confirmed the arrests.
He said both suspects are being investigated under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.
