[UPDATED] MACC seizes documents in connection with FashionValet case

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has seized several documents as part of its investigation into RM43.9 million in investment losses linked to Khazanah Nasional Bhd (Khazanah) and Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB).

MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki told Buletin TV3 that these documents were collected during visits to the Finance Ministry, Khazanah, PNB, and the headquarters of FashionValet Sdn Bhd.

"We are proceeding with our investigation by gathering documents from various locations, including the Finance Ministry and Khazanah. This is not a raid; we are seeking the cooperation of the relevant parties.

"At the Finance Ministry, we met with their officers to collect documents, and we received similar assistance from Khazanah and FashionValet, whose current management has been in place since February 2024.

"We are obtaining their cooperation, and these documents will be reviewed by my officers," he said.

When asked whether the founders of the fashion company had been called to assist with the investigation, Azam said MACC would need time to conduct thorough inquiries.

"We have just begun the investigation. I announced it on Saturday, and today is Monday. Please allow us time to call in witnesses as needed."

On Nov 1, FashionValet co-founders Datin Vivy Yusof and her husband, Datuk Fadzaruddin Shah Anuar, announced they would step down from their positions in the company, citing recent issues surrounding the sale of PNB and Khazanah's stake in FashionValet.

In 2018, Khazanah invested RM27 million and PNB RM20 million for minority stakes in FashionValet, which were sold for just RM3.1 million.
