[UPDATED] Motorist finds lost bag with RM1mil in cash, hands it to police

PETALING JAYA:  The bag containing RM1million cash which fell out of a security van near Ampang Point has been found.

Selangor deputy police chief Datuk S. Sasikala Devi said a motorist found the bag on the road and handed it over to police the same day it went missing.

"We have been informed that the bag was found in the middle of the road along Jalan Hulu Kelang headed toward the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (Akleh) yesterday.

"The bag was handed over to a police station for further action," she told reporters at the Petaling Jaya police headquarters today.

She said the bag was believed to have fallen out of the van while manoeuvring a corner.

Sasikala said police were taking statements from the motorist who found the bag as well as the security guards who were inside the van.

"Our investigations revealed that the van was travelling from a bank at Ampang Point toward Kuala Lumpur when the bag fell out.

"We are still in the early stages of our investigations and have yet to gather all the details. We will share further updates once our investigations have been completed," she said.

It was reported that a security company had lost a bag containing RM1 million in cash.

The cash had been collected from a bank in Ampang Point.

In a brief statement, Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail was reported saying they received a report on the matter yesterday evening.
