Police: Missing teen from Maran may have travelled north with friend

KUANTAN: The Form Three student from Kampung Paya Chedung, Maran, who was reported missing on Nov 9 is believed to have followed a friend to a northern state.

Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said police received information on the whereabouts of Ummul Ayuni Atiqah Mohd Khamis, 15, and were looking for her.

"We received information that she may have followed a friend to a northern state. We are trying to get more details.

"We are investigating why the victim left the house and why she travelled elsewhere," he said after the state police contingent headquarters' monthly assembly here today.

Yahaya said 49 missing person reports were lodged in Pahang between January and October, with 45 of them resolved.

He said the four cases that remain open involved three missing people in Rompin and one in Felda Bukit Mendi, Bera.

"The cases in Rompin involve a disabled man in Pulau Tioman who was reported missing in September and two Orang Asli adults reported missing on Sept 15 and Oct 16.

"The case in Bera was reported in June. All four cases involve men.

"Police are working closely with the Immigration Department to check if any of the missing persons have left the country."
