KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission confirmed that former Sabah Mineral Management (SMM) chief executive officer (CEO) Jontih Enggihon has been called in for questioning.
Its director Datuk S Karunanithy replied briefly through a Whatsapp message which read "Yes, confirm he was called" when asked on Malaysiakini's articles about Jontih being questioned at Sabah MACC headquarters here.
However, Karunanithy refused to divulge more details on the timeline and duration of the summon.
Jontih had gone to Malaysiakini to accuse Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor of abuse of power with regard to the granting of mineral exploration licences in the state.
Yesterday, SMM CEO Natasha Sim said the company has undertaken a comprehensive internal investigation and engaged legal counsel for possible civil action against Jontih.
Sim also said the investigations revealed Jontih had breached fiduciary duties, took part in alleged fraudulent activities, and committed misrepresentation or deception to the board of SMM.
