SHAH ALAM: A manager of a health equipment warehouse was fined RM6,500 by the magistrate's court here today for possessing 4,335 sex toys last year.
The sentence was handed down by magistrate Ameera Mastura Khamis after the accused, Goh Wei Keang, 30, pleaded guilty to the charge.
The court also ordered Goh to serve a four-month prison sentence if he fails to pay the fine.
According to the charge, he was accused of possessing 4,335 sex toys, including 911 units of silicone female genitalia, 940 units of silicone male genitalia, and 24 units of silicone breasts.
The offence occurred at 11am in a warehouse in Sungai Buloh on Nov 30, 2023.
The accused was charged under Section 292(a) of the Penal Code.
Based on the facts of the case, a team from the Enforcement and Control Division of the Home Ministry in Putrajaya raided a premises in Sungai Buloh and found the warehouse operating openly.
The accused admitted to being the warehouse manager, and investigations revealed that he owned, sold, and advertised sex toys in the warehouse via several online platforms.
The accused, who was not represented by a lawyer, pleaded for a reduced sentence, stating that he supports his 60-year-old mother and 20-year-old sibling.
"After this incident, I have lost my income and promise not to repeat this act," he said.
However, the ministry's Selangor prosecuting officer Siti Mazlini Ahmad Zawawi requested a sentence commensurate with the offence committed.
