Unemployed woman charged with supporting, possessing Islamic State items

PETALING JAYA: An unemployed woman was charged at the Sessions Court today with two counts of supporting and possessing items of a terrorist group, Islamic State (IS).

The charges were read out to Fauziahanim Abdullah,57, before judge Dr Syahliza Warnoh.

However, no plea was recorded as the case is under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

On the first count, she was charged with possessing items linked to IS in her handphone and a pendrive.

She committed the offence at about 9.02am at a unit in Persiaran Kinrara Seksyen 3, Puchong on June 23.

The offence under Paragraph 130JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code carries a maximum seven-year jail term with a fine; and the items used or intended to be used to commit the offence must be seized.

On the second count, she was charged with supporting IS by using social media platform, Instagram under the name Aurora Millisaa @Hanee_bear_.

She committed the offence at about 9.15am at the Special Branch Counter Terrorism E8 Division at Menara 2, Bukit Aman on June 28.

The offence under Paragraph 130J(1)(a) of the same Act, which carries a maximum 40 years' jail and with a fine; and the items used or intended to be used to commit the offence must be seized.

Deputy public prosecutor Rullizah Abdul Majid prosecuted, while Fauziahanim was unrepresented.

The court set Sept 20 for mention.
