KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 466 summonses were issued during a joint special operation targeting traffic obstruction and illegal motorcycle modifications in the Bukit Bintang area.
The operation was conducted by multiple enforcement agencies from 9pm on Dec 13 to 12.30am on Dec 14.
"The operation resulted in 319 summonses issued by the police, 92 by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), and 55 by the Road Transport Department," said deputy police chief Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob in a statement.
The operation also saw 15 vehicles towed away, with 10 removed by DBKL and five by the police.
The operation focused on areas such as Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Imbi, Jalan Ceylon, Jalan Changkat, Jalan Berangan, Jalan Walter Granier and Jalan Tengkat Tungshin.
"The main objective was to enforce road regulations against motorists causing obstruction or parking in prohibited areas and disrupting traffic flow," he said.
Unattended vehicles were towed away by police and DBKL recovery vehicles.
The operation also targeted modified motorcycles deemed unsuitable for road use.
"Summonses were issued to motorcyclists who modified their machines illegally," Azry added, with efforts aimed at improving traffic flow in the Bukit Bintang vicinity.
The enforcement operation involved 11 officers and 82 personnel from the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, Dang Wangi Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division, RTD and DBKL.
