The video features an unidentified scammer impersonating a police officer during a video call, staged to appear in a police station setting. The scammer also used intimidation tactics to manipulate the targeted user.
The video's widespread circulation, amassing 753,500 views, prompted official comments from state Commercial Crime Investigation Department head Superintendent Wan Aeidil Wan Abdullah.
"We never conduct video calls with suspects or complainants. This is a tactic used by criminal syndicates to gain trust and exploit victims," he said.
He also urged the public to remain vigilant during unsolicited communications.
"Be smart, be vigilant. Do not panic, and stay alert when speaking to unknown callers."
