Cops probe viral street luge clip on Balik Pulau main road [WATCH]

BALIK PULAU: Police have launched an investigation into a person who appears to have engaged in street luge (downhill longboard) on the main road here as captured in a clip that recently went viral on social media.

Southwest district police chief Superintendent Kamarul Rizal Jenal said police came across the clip at about 8.40pm yesterday (Sept 6).

The 47 second-long clip was uploaded by a Facebook user @Arief Why Pocong Pocong.

It showed the individual using the skateboard on the road while lying down on it.

The individual, who was seen wearing a helmet, subsequently sat up.

According to one of the comments, the incident is believed to have happened at Bukit Baru Balik Pulau.

"Such an act not only endangers the individual but other road users.

"We are investigating the matter under Section 3(1) of the Road Traffic (Prohibition of use of certain micromobility vehicles) Rules 2021.

"We view this matter very seriously," Kamarul said today (Sept 7).

He also urged those with information to come forward to assist in investigations into the incident.
