ALOR STAR: Kedah police destroyed a large haul of confiscated motorcycle parts seized during enforcement operations throughout 2024 using a road roller.
Kedah Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief, Superintendent Abdel Nasser S. Salleh, said the items included exhaust pipes, engines, tyres, and other components that failed to meet regulatory standards.
A total of 585 modified motorcycle parts were crushed with the roller during the event at the Kedah state police headquarters. A video showed the roller smashing exhaust pipes laid on the ground.
"Throughout the year, we confiscated 6,168 modified motorcycle parts, including 3,286 exhaust systems and 2,178 swing arms," Abdel Nasser said in a statement.
He added that modified exhaust systems were the most common offence.
A motorcycle swing arm is an essential component of a motorcycle's rear suspension system. It connects the rear wheel and the rear frame of the motorcycle.
Police urged road users to comply with all laws and use standard vehicle accessories that meet the required specifications.
