PUTRAJAYA: The police today issued a stern warning against those planning to take part in the "Solidarity with Datuk Seri Najib Razak" rally in front of the Palace of Justice here tomorrow.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Aidi Sham Mohamed said the rally has not received permission from the landowner, thus failing to comply with the conditions under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
As such, Aidi Sham said the police would take strict action against anyone participating in the rally as it violates existing laws.
"The police will also set up several roadblocks on roads to the administrative capital here and conduct strict checks on all people entering Putrajaya tomorrow.
"This is to ensure that no weapons, banners, or placards with offensive or seditious content related to the rally are brought in," he said in a statement.
It was reported yesterday that Aidi Sham confirmed receiving an application on Dec 31 last year from the organisers of the rally.
The application was rejected due to an incomplete submission.
He also said that the organisers were informed on Jan 3 that their application to hold the rally had been denied.
Umno on Friday had announced its decision to cancel its attendance to the rally.
Its party secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the decision is in response to the decree of His Majesty the King and the directive from the Inspector-General of Police related to the rally.
