AMPANG: Police are investigating the motive behind the death of a seven-year-old boy, who was allegedly abused by his mother and her boyfriend in an incident in Taman Bukit Ampang here, on Friday.
The victim, who sustained injuries such as bruises on his face, neck, arms, and legs, died at home and was later taken to Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) for a post-mortem examination, which revealed that the cause of death was internal bleeding in the head.
Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said police had seized several blunt objects during the arrest of the suspects involved in the case.
However, he added that confirming whether these items were used as weapons in the fatal abuse would depend on the expert reports to be issued later.
"The investigation into this case is ongoing, including identifying the motive behind the abuse that led to the boy's death," he said today.
The couple were arrested at Jalan Zamrud, Taman Bukit Ampang, at 5.17pm on Friday.
Mohd Azam said the woman called the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters Control Centre at 2.36pm on the day of the incident, informing them that her son was unconscious. Police officers were dispatched to the location for further action.
