'Be a more inclusive government'-Chief Secretary to Government to public servants

PUTRAJAYA: It is pertinent for the public service to move forward as inclusive citizen-centric government, said Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa.

He said every government agency should be proactive and constantly identify potential digital initiatives to benefit its operations.

"This is no longer an era when we can afford to be reactive and ignorant as it is now possible to obtain knowledge at our fingertips anytime and anywhere,” he said when launching the Public Sector Chief Information Officers (CIO) Convex 2017 (PSCC 2017) today.

CIOs, Ali said, were instrumental in determining the direction of information and communications technology (ICT) development in their agencies.

"The CIOs have the responsibility to harmonise the roles of IT professionals and non-IT professionals to build an effective working relationship," he added.

The PSCC 2017 was platform for CIOs, strategic industry partners and experts to come together and explore digital transformation.

The conference was to ensure the CIOs were well-informed about the latest digital trends and technologies for potential innovations.

Themed Digital Transformation: Forging Public Sector Digital Future, the conference emphasised on exploring the digital technologies capability and transformation know-how for the government.

The two-day conference, had the objective to enable the government to operate and deliver services to the people in accordance with digital trends such as artificial intelligence, cyber security, data analytics, clouds, blockchain technology and citizen-centric design.
