Govt plans to set up national traffic control centre

KUALA LUMPUR: The government is planning to set up a National Traffic Control Centre for traffic flow management and law enforcement at all major expressways in the country, Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said.

He said the proposal on the matter had already been brought to the Cabinet and had also been agreed upon in principle.

The minister said the project was expected to be implemented in the next two years.

“The proposed control centre is a long-term traffic management solution involving all agencies related to security and enforcement of expressways, such as the Road Transport Department and the police.

“The ultimate goal is to ensure efficient traffic management while reducing the level of accident risk,” he told reporters after monitoring the traffic flow on the North South Expressway in conjunction with the Chinese New Year 2018 here today. - Bernama
