KUALA LUMPUR: Several new Parliament sitting standard operating procedures (SOPs) will be introduced by the Dewan Rakyat soon, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
In a tweet today, Ismail Sabri said strict SOPs were in place in the lower house, which reconvenes today after adjourning since Aug 27.
"Members of Parliament from Sabah must observe quarantine for 14 days before being present in Parliament.
"Only the MP and two officers are allowed to enter.
"Today, several new SOPs will be announced by the speaker," he posted.
Among others, the SOPs for this Parliament sitting required MPs, their officers, ministry personnel and the media to undergo Covid-19 testing three days before attending Parliament.
Temperature screenings were also taken at the entrance to the Parliament building, with all present required to put on a face mask and observe physical distancing of at least 1m at all times.
