KUALA LUMPUR: Newly-appointed Auditor-General Tan Sri Madinah Mohamed today said she is looking forward to present her first audit report in Parliament.
She said such would quash the scepticism over her ability to deliver and perception related to her husband's political connection.
"All of that is behind me now because I am concentrating fully on my task.
"And I think I have a lot to deliver to the people and government," she said after giving a lecture titled 'Accountability in Financial Management in Education Sector' at the International Islamic University Malaysia today.
The next Dewan Rakyat session begins in July.
Madinah was responding to a question on the challenges she faced due to her husband, Kepong Umno chief Datuk Rizuan Hamid's loyalty to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Rizuan made headlines recently when he declared that he was willing to fight for Najib until his last breath during a division meet.
Madinah said being the first female audit chief is challenging but said it is also something that she is willing to take up.
She said she was grateful to have the support of all the staff in the National Audit Department.
"(The first two months) It has been very enriching, I have also utilise all my experiences as former secretary-general for Mosti (Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation) and Education ministry... So it has helped a lot," she said.
Madinah was appointed in February this year replacing Tan Sri Ambrin Buang.
When asked if she plans to declassify the 1Malaysia Development Bhd final audit report to the Public Accounts Committee, Madinah simply smiled.
The report is currently classified under Official Secrets Act since last year.
