KANGAR: The Perlis Islamic Religious Department (JAIPs) has barred Muslim traders in the state from selling cooked food before 2pm during the fasting month of Ramadan.
In a statement yesterday, the department's enforcement division said action will be taken against traders who do not adhere to the ruling under Section 25(1)(a) of the Islamic Shariah Enactment 1991 (Amendment 2012).
It said the enactment provided for a maximum fine of RM3,000, or imprisonment not exceeding two years, or both, for the first offence.
For second and subsequent offences, the offender is liable to a fine of not more than RM5,000, or a jail sentence of up to three years, or both. – BERNAMA
