KAJANG: When 3-year-old Muhammad Alifthaqif Osman regained consciousness, his first two words were “ayah” and “ibu”.
The only son of Osman Mohamed Taip and Rosniza Othman survived the horrific Jempol crash yesterday, which claimed the lives of both his parents in the accident at Km25 Jalan Bahau-Keratong.
Alifthaqif broke his hand and leg.
He is currently being treated at the Kuala Pilah Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital (HTAN).
Osman’s sister Sandora, 38, said the family managed to visit Alifthaqid at HTAN before they rushed to the Jempol Hospital.
“He cried and called for his parents when he woke up. He is accompanied by Rosniza’s brother at the hospital now,” she said.
When asked who would take care of Alifthaqif after the incident, she said both families have yet to discuss on this.
Sandora said her youngest brother was on his weekly routine trip to Endau, Johor to buy fishes during the incident.
“They sell fishes at the market. Every week, they will go to Endau to buy new stock.
“They never leave their son behind whenever they travel to Endau, so, Alifthaqif is very close to his parents.
“We are worried every time he drives there as it is a long journey and it is very tiring, but we did not expect this to happen,” she said when met at the Sungai Merab Luar Muslim Cemetery in Bangi today.
About 100 family members and friends paid their last respects to Osman at the cemetery where he was laid to rest.
Sandora said she received the news of her brother’s passing from her sister-in-law about 8pm on Sunday.
“We did not believe it was Osman when we learnt of the news. But seeing photos of his vehicles on Facebook and Whatsapp, we knew that it was him.
“We last met on Friday at the Ampang Hospital when our aunt passed away, but I never expect that he will be the next to leave us.
“He was a dedicated and hardworking man. He respected his elders, never talked back. It is a great loss,” she said.
Osman’s wife, Rosniza is expected to be buried in Endau, Johor.
On Sunday, the 2.20pm incident also claimed the lives of another six in a family who were travelling in a Proton Exora.
They were Wan Mohd Fauzi Wan Ibrahim, 51, and his wife Mas Noraida M Yusoff, 45; and their children Wan Muhamad Iskandar, 22; Wan Nor Atirah, 18; Wan Mohamad Amar Haziq, 13; and Wan Nor Alisha, 7.
