Sabah youths share aspirations, ideas on rural development at TN50 dialogue

KOTA KINABALU: A total of 170 aspirations and ideas have been voiced out by Sabah youths at the National Transformation 2050 (TN50) here, today.

The TN50 dialogue, which focused on the rural aspects, saw young people stressing on better basic infrastructure, education, business aid, and healthcare among others in future.

Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob assured all that their aspirations and ideas would be highlighted in the Rural Development Policy 2020-2050.

"This policy will be tabled in a convention which will be held in August. We respect the people's aspirations and they will be heard by all ministers including the Prime Minister," he said at the event held at the Tabung Haji building here today.

Ismail agreed basic infrastructure in Sabah was still lacking but stressed that it will take time for such development to cover the entire state due to its size.

He stressed that allocations channelled by Federal government under the Ministry has been distributed fairly.

"Of the allocation, 25 per cent have been allocated to Sabah and Sarawak each, while 50 per cent has been allocated to Peninsular Malaysia and will be distributed among 11 states.

"Hence, there should be no issue of Sabah being neglected (in terms of development)," he said.

Sabah is the fourth location after Kuala Lumpur, Terengganu and Sarawak for the Rural and Regional Development Ministry's TN50 dialogue.

Thus far, Ismail said the Ministry has recorded 1,000 aspirations and ideas from the tour, including today.
