From scary to inappropriate: New photos of Gadis Air Mineral Shell go viral

IPOH: Shell staff Nor Shafila Khairusalleh, 25, who gained instant fame as her life-size poster appeared around Shell stations nationwide, is making headlines again, but this time, for all the wrong reasons.

Some Malaysian men have now deemed it hilarious to take various suggestive shots with Shafila’s poster.

These pictures are making its rounds on social media and gaining much traction.

In an immediate response, Shell Malaysia said it viewed the matter seriously and that the standee would be removed from its sites including petrol stations.

"We are aware that pictures of several individuals photographed engaging in distasteful and suggestive acts with a promotional standee at our retail stations are circulating online.

"We do not condone this disrespectful act, which is completely against the culture of Malaysians and Shell’s core values.

"We urge Netizens and members of the public to refrain from sharing these images further," read a statement issued by the company today.

Shafila became an Internet sensation when pictures of herself holding a mineral water bottle have gone viral, even earning her the nickname "Gadis Air Mineral Shell" (Shell’s mineral water girl).

The standee became popular last year as unsuspecting customers shared photos of the poster saying that they were shocked to see it for the first time as the Shafila’s face appears to pop out of the blue, being positioned next to the petrol booths.

Some have claimed that it can get creepy to see the poster at night as it is unexpected.
