MIRI: The mutilated remains of an Indonesian worker who was dragged underwater by a crocodile while he was fishing was found afloat this morning.
Lutong Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the body of the victim, known as Salim, was found about six kilometres downriver from the spot at the Asian bridge toll at Kuala Baram where he was fishing.
"The body of the victim, in a badly mutilated state, was found about 11.15am today by a search and rescue team on a patrol boat," he said in a statement.
The Lutong Fire and Rescue Department received a call about 4.50pm on Dec 19 asking for assistance to search for Salim, 49, who was suspected to have been dragged underwater by the crocodile while he was fishing.
He said Salim was last seen wearing a blue singlet.
He added a search and rescue (SAR) operation was initiated, led by the Lutong Fire and Rescue Department, together with the police, the security and enforcement unit, the civil defence department, and members of the public.
The spokesman said the operations covered six kilometres upriver and downriver at Kuala Baram.
