Free ride on MRT SBK Line for today, 50% discount for MRT, LRT, Monorail until Merdeka Day - PM

KUALA LUMPUR: Klang Valley residents will be able to enjoy free rides on the new mass rapid transit (MRT) Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) line today.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak when launching the new MRT line said passengers would also be able to enjoy 50 per cent discount until August 31.

"I am pleased to announce that starting from 4pm until midnight today, all passengers will be able to enjoy free rides on this new MRT line.

"I would also like to announce that all passengers will get to enjoy 50 per cent discount from tomorrow (Tuesday) until Merdeka Day on August 31, for all MRT, LRT and Monorail lines," he said in his speech today.

Also present during the launch was Najib's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa and Cabinet ministers.

Malaysia's first MRT, the 51-kilometre SBK line has taken off and opened for the public today.

With the launch, 19 stations will commence operations under phase two of the line, fully completing the entire 31 stations of the SBK line.
