Libraries to host fun-filled activities for upcoming school holidays

KUALA LUMPUR: With the school holidays just around the corner, parents are on the lookout for the best possible ways to spend some quality time with their children.

Here are some options for parents to consider.

Public libraries are among the many places parents can opt to take their children for a fun and interactive experience.

In Shah Alam, the Raja Tun Uda Library in Section 13 is a one-stop centre that was built based on the ‘library in a park’ concept.

The state-of-the-art library is equipped with the latest technologies, and features a 3D and 6D cinema.

With an entrance fee of RM10.60 (including GST), the 6D cinema is one of the main attractions as it features seats that can move in different directions to create ‘a real-life experience’.

Other facilities include comfortable seating areas, a live drawing sketch room for children, gymnasiums with shower and changing rooms, virtual reality machines, an outdoor cafetaria and many more.

For a fun and interactive experience, do not miss the opportunity to take part in the activities that have been lined up by the library beginning Aug 26 until Sept 3.

The activities include paper plate swimming jellyfish and fish craft, door hanger, face painting, stress ball and pyramid card challenge, and many more.

The library is open from Tuesday to Friday (9.30am to 7pm), Monday at 10am to 7pm, and on weekends from 9.30am to 9pm.

In Kuala Lumpur, the Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) Library along Jalan Athinahapan and the National Library also are also a good choice for families to enjoy the school holidays.

However, the KL Library in TTDI is currently closed for refurbishment works.

Beginning next week Saturday until Aug 29, the National Library has lined up several activities for the school holidays, including storytelling sessions and bookmark making workshops.

Three public libraries — Bukit Damansara Community Library, Keramat Community Library and AU Setiawangsa Community Library — will hold greeting card and paper plate craft classes in conjunction with the upcoming Merdeka Day celebrations.
