JOHOR BARU: The Kembara Mahkota Johor (KMJ) 2017 will see the Johor royal family touring the state's 10 districts in custom-made Morgan Three Wheeler sport cars.
The vintage classic British vehicle will be featured prominently in the latest edition of the royal tour slated for four days from September 9 until 12.
Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar will be driving one of three specially imported Morgan Three Wheelers which has been personalised with the Johor royal crest and insignia on its' body and comes in a variety of colours, finishings and trimmings.
Photos of the custom-made sports car, which was first manufactured by the Morgan Motor Company in 1909 and reissued in 2011, were posted in the Sultan Ibrahim official Facebook page yesterday.
The photos showed Sultan Ibrahim at the Forest City Phoenix hotel in Gelang Patah for a special test drive.
The ruler drove off from the hotel's compound in a bright lime green coloured two-passenger Morgan roadster with the Johor royal insignia on it.
On the Johor Southern Tigers official Facebook page, photos of the same car model but retrofitted with the Johor Southern Tigers crest, Johor Darul Ta'zim club logo and painted in the state flag colours of white, red and blue with a tiger design on its hood was unveiled.
Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Sultan Ismail Sultan Ibrahim is expected to use this vehicle for the KMJ.
Sultan Ibrahim, Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah and their children together with state officials will take part in the tour that covers an 800km route through cities, towns, villages and rural areas statewide.
KMJ 2017 is the 20th edition of the royal tour held to forge closer ties between Johor's royal family and the people through various programmes carried out at each stopover along the journey.
