PASIR PUTIH: The National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN) has disbursed RM50.41 billion in loans to 2.17 million students as of July this year.
PTPTN communication strategic and marketing senior general manager Abdul Ghaffar Yusof said in the period, a total of 7,127 borrowers received Takaful insurance coverage benefits totalling RM115.98 million.
"As of July 31, PTPTN has handed over death claims payments to 6,463 students and their relatives amounting more than RM8 million," he said.
He was speaking to reporters after handing over contributions and debt release certificate to the family of the late Nurnasibah Husna Ibrahim at Taman Firdaus near Kampung Alur Pasir here today.
Nurnasibah Husna, a Universiti Malaysia Sabah's student, was killed in a boat tragedy at Kuala Besut in Terengganu on Aug 8.
Receiving the certificate were her parents Ibrahim Kadir, 51, and Rosnani Abdullah, 46.
