SEREMBAN: The mother of Muhammad Fahmie Abdullah, 11, one of the 23 victims died in the fire at Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah tahfiz school said, an apology from the suspects, believed to be involved behind the tragic incident means nothing as it won’t bring her son back.
“I won’t forgive what they did to the victims. It was intentional, right from the start,” said Noor Azlina Bakry, 36, in between tears, when met at her house in Taman Paroi Jaya here, today.
“How could they? It was a very heartless act. No matter how I think about it, I just can’t reason their act and forgive them.
“I don’t want to meet them (suspects), I don’t want to see their faces..I won’t forgive them,” she said.
“I hope those responsible behind this, will get the punishment. It’s better if the stay in prison forever. What kind of heart they have..how could they (did it) to the tahfiz students,” she said before she broke down in tears.
Meanwhile, the victim’s aunt, Noridayu Bakry, 32, whom Muhammad Fahmie had fondly referred as mama said, she heard the rumours on the motive behind the fire incident but didn’t give much attention to it until she saw the press conference on the television last night.
“I'm lost for words. It was a huge shock to all of us,” she said adding that her family was holding a ‘kenduri tahlil’ at her parents’ house here when the news was confirmed by the police.
Noridayu said, while the whole family has accepted the incident as fate, but she wished to meet the suspects and their family members for closure.
"I just want them to apologise to all of us, the family members of the victims. I believe they (suspects) will get a fair punishment, and on our part, we just want to close this painful chapter and move on," she said.
A Press conference held by Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Amar Singh last night had concluded that police believed they have solved the case with the arrests of seven teenagers aged between 11 and 18, who had allegedly intended to burn down the tahfiz school in an act of revenge over a name calling incident that happened a few days prior.
