Water tanks for Bebuloh residents

LABUAN: ABOUT 1,000 rural residents, here, who have been experiencing frequent water shortages, received tanks from the Water For Life programme recently.

The programme, organised by Petronas Dagangan Bhd (PDB) and the Nature Society, gives clean water supply during water disruptions as the 1,000-gallon-capacity water tank each has a filtration system .

The community in Kampung Bebuloh has been experiencing water shortages due to low water pressure.

Village head Khalidin Matali said they were grateful for the assistance rendered by PDB to address the issue they have been facing for the past few years.

“Our daily activities are of-
ten disrupted and we are equally worried about the general sanitation of the area and the well-being of our children and the elderly.

“Thanks to PDB, we can now look forward to undisrupted water supply to carry out our day-to-day activities without worry.”

PDB managing director and chief executive officer Datuk
Mohd Ibrahimnuddin Mohd Yunus said the programme had entered the fourth year, and had helped 13 communities across the nation.

“This reinforces our commitment to ensure the communities in areas which we operate are able to meet basic human needs for clean water,” he said.

The Water For Life programme was initiated in 2013 to provide affected communities access to an uninterrupted supply of clean water.

The project also involves building the necessary infrastructure such as a water supply system, thus improving general sanitation, especially for residents living in rural areas.

At the same time, the programme serves to advocate water conservation amongst the locals to ensure its sustainability for years to come.
