Water issues force Kampung Kubang Lintah residents to use murky well water

KUBANG PASU: Some residents in Kampung Kubang Lintah, Tunjang, have been forced to use murky well water for their daily needs due to disruptions in the water supply.

According to Sinar Harian, Aliassaak Md Isa, 42, dug a well behind his house two years ago because of the water supply issues.

"My taps are dry during the day, and at night the pressure is low," he said yesterday.

"When it rains, the well water is murky, and on regular days, we have to add alum to clarify the water."

He noted that only a few homes in the higher areas of the village were experiencing water supply issues.

"The homes near Bukit Tunjang are affected, while those closer to the main road have no problems with their water supply. I'm not sure if it's due to pressure issues or blocked pipes," he said.

Student Mohd Nabil Isa, 16, said he and his three younger siblings have to bathe in the murky well water every morning before school.

"My father has set up a pipe to draw well water into a large tank before it's piped into the house. We use that water for bathing and washing. For drinking, we have to carry bottles to get tap water from the Haji Ismail mosque," he said.

He added that his family sometimes contacts Syarikat Air Darul Aman (SADA) to request clean water delivery.

"However, SADA takes a few days to respond, so we have to make do with what we have for now," he added.

Mashitoh Abdul Ghani, 47, expressed her frustration with the situation as she cares for her elderly mother, Manis Ismail, 82, who is unwell.

"I feel very stressed because, with a sick elderly person, bathing becomes difficult when there's no tap water in the house. Many household tasks get delayed.

"We even have to collect our laundry to wash at a laundromat," she said.

She added that when it rains, she collects rainwater for washing dishes.

"Sometimes, it feels like I'm living in the old days. I have to wash dishes outside, and often, the dishes pile up because we're waiting for water," she lamented.
