KUALA KANGSAR: Istana Iskandariah was the venue of an investiture ceremony held in conjunction with Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah’s 61th birthday today.
The event began at 8.30am, with Sultan Nazrin inspecting the guard-of-honour and members of the 2nd division of the Royal Engineer Regiment, Sangro Camp in Taiping, led by Major Nor Hejeri Shamsudin.
The ceremony, with background music provided by the Royal Malaysian Navy Lumut base central band (led by Lieutenant Mohd Shamram Ramli), was capped with a 21-gun salute by the 41st ceremonial battery of the Royal Artillery Regiment from Sungai Buloh camp.
Sultan Nazrin and his consort the Raja Permaisuri Tuanku Zara Salim then proceeded to the Royal palace’s Balairong Seri, as the royal ensemble played nobat music.
Members of the royal family, dignitaries and guests in attendance stood to welcome the royal couple as they took their seats on the singgahsana throne.
