'Labuan-Sabah bridge should be given priority'

KOTA KINABALU: The government should make the proposal to build a bridge connection between Sabah and Labuan a priority because of the impact it will have on the people and the economy.

Datuk Limus Jury (Barisan Nasional-Kuala Penyu) said the proposal was nothing new as it was brought up many times but pointed out that the announcement made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak when tabling the 2018 Budget was timely.

In debating the 2018 State Budget, Limus said the bridge plan, proposed for the first time in the national budget, needed to be made an important agenda for both the state and federal government because of the impact it would bring.

Najib had announced that a feasibility study would be carried out on the proposed plan to build the bridge linking Labuan and Menumbok in Sabah, which came under Kuala Penyu.

Limus also said the RM597.8 million allocation to improve water supply across the state could help alleviate many supply-related issues, especially in his constituency.
