ALOR STAR: Muda Agriculture Development Authority (Mada) has released water from two dams after the reservoirs recorded a high level of water following heavy rains for the past few months.
Mada, in a statement said, the water level at the Muda dam is above its maximum level of 100.58m and since October, water from the dam has overflowed into Sungai Muda.
At the Pedu dam, the water level is 97.29m, below the maximum level of 97.54m.
Mada said the water level at Pedu dam is at 98.8 per cent full, while the reading at Muda dam is now at 100.67m.
“We have started releasing water from Pedu dam since Dec 4, as a measure to control the water level at the dam and to avoid it from overflowing,” the statement read.
However, Mada assured that the agency is closely monitoring the situation at both dams.
The agency also urged public who are planning to conduct water activities down stream of Sungai Muda to take extra precaution to prevent any untoward incident.
